Focus on Port of Karlshamn at International Conference

Port of Karlshamn was the only swedish company invited to speak at the Coordinating Council of TransSiberian Transportation (CCTT) Plenary Meeting 2015, recently held in Vienna. CCTT is a association for companies and organisations from Europe in the west and Japan in the east, using the landbridge routes as the Transsiberian railroad for cargo transportation. More than 200 top management delegates from 25 countries participated at the conference in Vienna.

Port of Karlshamn, associated member of CCTT, was represented by Marketing Manager Ulf Sandevärn who was invited as speaker.

- We see a great interest for the possibilites of Port of Karlshamn among the members of CCTT and the opportunity to address this distinguished audience is a good example, says Ulf Sandevärn.

- I informed about the favourable conditions Port of Karlshamn has as a logistics node for transportation of containers via the Trassiberian route or the Silk route between Sweden and Asia.

- With daily ferry service between Karlshamn-Klaipeda or with container vessel to other ports and further rail service to Chine, the lead time can be reduced by half, compared with the normal sea route. Especially for cargo flows to- and from destinations far away from the coast in China. So now customers have the option to ship their containers both via ocean route and land bridge to- and from Karlshamn.

- On our side, the containers can be transported in a environmental friendly way by the rail operator Green Cargo. They offer daily intermodal rail service between Karlshamn and many terminals in Sweden and also in Norway, Ulf Sandevärn continues.
